How to use Gmail to send and receive email from your domain and consolidate all of your email accounts

To consolidate multiple email addresses in one account using Google's Gmail email application, take the following steps:

Step 1: Set up your other email accounts to forward to your Gmail account.
If you are a client of Sko Design Lab, you may login to your hosting account and forward the email account(s) at your domain to your gmail account, or you may ask us to do it for you (it's really easy!). Other web based free email clients like hotmail should allow forwarding.

Step 2: Set up Gmail to “send as” your alternative email address.
Go to Settings > Accounts.



Under “Send mail as,” click “Add another email address.” Enter your name and alternative email address. If you'd like the person receiving the email to reply to a different email address by default, you may enter a "reply to" email address.



Step 3: Click “Next step" > “Verify.”
You will then be sent a verification email to each of the email addresses that you set up with your gmail account. But, since you've already set those email addresses to forward to gmail, all you need to do is go to your gmail inbox and click on the verification link in each email. You are now set! To "send from" an alternative email address, you'll see a drop-list which will let you select which email address you'd like to send your message from. You may also reply to emails from your new selection of email addresses. You can select under the "Settings > Accounts" menu if you'd like to reply using your default email address or the email address that the email was sent to.

Step 4: Breathe a long sigh of relief!
